Delicate Escape (Standard Edition)
Delicate Escape (Standard Edition) | Catherine Cowles

Shepard Colson's golden-boy charm is only matched by his devastating good looks. Everyone has nothing but good things to say about the handsome contractor. Which is exactly why I need to stay far away. I know what it's like to be taken in by easy smiles and the promise of forever. And I have the scars to prove it. But it's not easy when Shep won't stop coming by the bakery and prying little truths from my lips. Those amber eyes of his seeing far too much. Trust doesn't come easily when you've been running for as long as I have. But Shep is a man who doesn't give up without a fight. And when all the secrets come crashing down, he's determined to keep me safe. Even if it means moving into my run-down cabin to do it. Now, Shep isn't just rebuilding the walls of my home, he's working his way into my heart. Suddenly, he's everywhere: shirtless in my garden or in a towel coming out of my bathroom. And my resolve is no match. Only it's more than his golden looks. It's him. The way he watches for my wounds but tells me I'm stronger than anyone he's ever known. And I can't help but fall. But I should've known better than to think I could be happy. Not when the one who promised me everything years ago still has me in his sights. And when he finds out I've moved on without him, he'll do anything to tear my life apart, even if it means ending it for good...

I had two 5⭐️ reads in September, but one was a reread of my favorite book of all time. So I‘m listing my new read as my top read of September. I‘m a big fan of Catherine Cowles, and highly recommend for fans of romantic suspense/small town romance.

Pickpick

This author is so good at combining small town romance with genuine stakes and a mystery with a great twist. This second book in the series is no exception. I really liked both main characters and the found family at the heart of the story. Looking forward to book 3! 5⭐️
