« Colette est remorte. Ce mot n’existe nulle part. Remourir, ça n’existe pas. » Colette était une femme sans histoire. C’est du moins ce que l’on croyait jusqu’au jour où sa nièce apprend son décès par un appel de la police. Car Colette, sa tante unique, a déjà été enterrée il y a trois ans... Avec ce roman virtuose où s’entrelacent destins et intrigues palpitantes, Valérie Perrin, extraordinaire conteuse de nos vies, signe son grand retour.

Mehso-so

How does she get away with cranking out these doorstoppers? No need for 632 pgs yet here I am, plowing through. Something about how she times the reveals, the gossipy feel. Same book as always: melodrama, childhood friends, flashbacks, intergenerational trauma. This time with circus performers, filmmakers & concert pianists. 2024

192 “…je pense qu‘on fait le même film toute sa vie.†(ou qu‘on écrit le même bouquin toute sa vie, Mme. Perrin?)

BarbaraBB Can‘t wait for the translation! 2mo

Pickpick

Perrin‘s latest is another winner.

It‘s autumn 2010, and Agnes gets a call that her aunt has died. There‘s just one problem, she was told the same thing in 2007 and a person can‘t die twice right? So Agnes travels to her aunt‘s home and meets some old childhood friends and some of her aunt‘s friends

Did her aunt not live the boring life that everyone thought? Quite the story is unraveled

squirrelbrain Gah! I got excited, but it‘s not published in English yet. 🤨 7mo
AnneCecilie @squirrelbrain I didn‘t know that the Norwegian translation beat the English translation. Good thing I didn‘t say anything else in my review, this was basically in the blurb. Do you know when it‘s out? 7mo
Suet624 I can‘t wait. I love her work. 7mo

squirrelbrain I can‘t find anything about it yet. 🤷â€â™€ï¸ 7mo
BarbaraBB I can only find it in French and Italian here in the Netherlands! Can‘t wait to read it but I need to be patient I guess! (edited) 7mo
Gissy Yes, like @squirrel rain said, s excited to read this story but impatient because it hasn‘t been translated to English yetâ˜¹ï¸ 7mo
Tamra Patience is not a virtue when we‘re talking translation. 7mo
AnneCecilie @squirrelbrain @Suet624 @BarbaraBB @Gissy @Tamra I hope you don‘t have to wait to long. This is the reason for way I read so much in English, I don‘t have the patience for a potential Norwegian translation 7mo
Deblovestoread So excited to have it on the horizon! 4mo
AnneCecilie @Deblovestoread I think someone on Litsy posted an English publishing date for this. Sometime in 2026 4mo

On my way to a musical early tonight, I passed a bookstore window (and yes, I went inside too).

One of their windows was covered in Valerie Perrin‘s latest novel in French

At least now there‘s hope for a new book in translation, and hopefully sometime soon

BarbaraBB This is such good news! Thank you 🙠1y
