For a stand alone, this story is certainly taking it‘s sweet time getting going. Good, but I expected more by nearly halfway through.

As part of the titular society, Magda is tasked with going to Hong Kong to retrieve an “unknowable,” i:e. magic, object. But someone attempts to intervene, setting her down the path of learning the society is not at all what she thought. I really enjoyed this one and liked the whole cast of characters.

I love Brown‘s terrifying villains but I always feel a tad disconnected from the characters. This is a great fantasy read nonetheless. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I haven‘t read The Book of Doors but the description of the tagged gives off The Librarians vibes. Out on Tuesday.
In book news three library levies passed in Washington. Keeping libraries open and funded is so important. My hometown library‘s collection is 100% funded through donations and fundraising. Check in with your library to see if they need help.
And a bit of national news to share esp. for disaster prone areas.
