1 post | 1 read
There's a new club at Sweet Valley Middle School--the Eight Times Eight Club--and they're trying to outdo the Unicorns. So the Unicorns take their act to TV--on the "Best Friends" TV show. All they have to do is guess each other's favorite foods, most embarrassing moments, and worst dates. Can they win over their opponents the Eights?

Finally a Wakefield narrator! New Unicorn member Liz narrates the story of the club getting a chance to compete on the local channel‘s game show Best Friends. They also still need to raise $300 for a new toupee for the principal! Liz organizes their letter to participate & flyers to take on odd jobs. The rivalry gets intense when the new 8th grade club, Eight Times Eight is announced as their opponents. Jessica raises the stakes to win with a bet!

TorieStorieS Unfortunately this one has some issues with both series continuity (Mary Wallace‘s past no longer includes the kidnapping drama or the return of her birth mother) and continuity within itself where Lila is identified as a Leo (when everyone knows she is actually an Aries!) but by the end is called a Taurus! JenlovesJT47 I totally forgot about Liz joining the Unicorns! 😱 3w
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 I know— it‘s so weird to see her in the club! But Janet wouldn‘t recognize this version of the Unicorns! Other than wearing purple and sitting at the Unicorner at lunch, they‘ve certainly changed! 3w
JenlovesJT47 I have about 10 of these books from when they came out and I would read several of them multiple times but funny, I have forgotten almost all of it except the first book. Looking forward to it! 🤓 3w
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 Yeah— I only had the first books originally, too— but I remember being frustrated that they didn‘t seem to really fit, so I don‘t know that I ever re-read these before now! Though I do think I remember that the Unicorns break into separate clubs, so I‘m guessing Maria & Liz don‘t last long as Unicorns! 3w
