‘A blackly funny twist on the Country House mystery, with bodies and wit galore’ John Connolly And Then There Were None meets The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Ten strangers. An old dark house. A killer picking them off one by one. And a missing girl who's running out of time. . . Ten strangers wake up inside an old, locked house. They have no recollection of how they got there. In order to escape, they have to solve the disappearance of a young woman. But a killer also stalks the halls of the house, and soon the body count starts to rise. Who are these strangers? Why were they chosen? Why would someone want to kill them? And who – or what – is the Beast in the Cellar? Forget what you think you know. Because while you can trust yourself, can you really trust THE OTHER PEOPLE? ‘The Other People chilled me to the bone, made me laugh out loud - and everything in between. This devilishly clever mystery holds you captive from its explosive opening, right up to its shocking final pages. I never saw the twist coming, yet it made perfect sense. Brilliant!’ Alison Gaylin

Tamra @zezeki synchronicity! My read will not be nearly as edifying as yours though. Mine is strictly for entertainment. 😜 2d

Okay, this book is weird. You will either love it or hate it. As someone who reads a lot of thrillers, the uniqueness of the storyline makes me want to give it a lot of love. The plot sounds normal: ten strangers locked in a house where someone is killing them one by one….okay, so? Well, it‘s not what you think and it doesn‘t go where you think it goes. This one will probably make my top 10 for 2025.

This thriller has one of my favourite set ups...the locked room. There are a lot of characters and POVs and the author did a great job of differentiating most of them. I also found the story entertaining. Unfortunately, it didn‘t quite hold together as much as I would have liked. It was the reveal at the end that seemed to be lacking a little for me, although the last couple of lines were great. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. 3.5/5

Where am I?

What is going on?

Everyone has been waking up in a room that they had no idea how they got there or why their phones were gone and why they had some wrist band on that they can‘t take off.

Cleverly done, but a little too out there for me. 3/5
