Rebis: Born and Reborn | Irene Marchesini
1 post | 1 read
For fans of Nimona and Snapdragon comes an exquisitely drawn medieval story about the friendship between a runaway child and a mysterious witch. Born with paper-white skin, Martino is an outcast. To the villagers, albinism is more than a curiosity—it’s a curse. Bullied and shunned, Martino seeks refuge in the deep woods—and finds it in Viviana. Powerful and beautiful, Viviana belongs to a sisterhood of outcast women. Martino is welcomed into the fold and, drawing on the magic of the forest, is reborn. In Rebis, Italian duo Irene Marchesini and Carlotta Dicataldo deliver a medieval fantasy steeped in mystery—a haunting and hopeful tale of transformation and found family.

Pickpick

Nothing makes me glad to live in the 21st century like reading about life in medieval times. Yikes. Also sad to see how much has really not changed since then. That being said, I loved Viviana and Rebis‘ story as they built a life together! The artwork is beautiful and the story kept me on the edge of my seat (mostly in fear that something awful was about to happen)!
