Pickpick

One and Only: The Freedom of Having an Only Child, and the Joy of Being One is an excellent book. Lauren Sandler interviewed a wide range of people and professionals from all over the world, looked at studies, and shared some personal experiences of having and being an only child. 5⭐️

About half way through.

AutumnRLS This is ok so far. It's interesting hearing from an only's perspective and it makes it doubly interesting that she is also a mother of an only. I thought the last chapter I read was particularly poignant (Where Someone Loves You Best Of All). It's giving me a lot to think about. A little more than 1/2 way through. 6y
AutumnRLS Not the book I thought I was reading. The third to last chapter was particularly depressing. Still a lot to think about. 6y

Mehso-so

This book was not what I was expecting; the subtitle is rather misleading. While Sandler does mention the pros of raising an only child, most of the book focuses on the costs of raising children and the U.S.‘s lack of childcare policies. While it was interesting, it wasn‘t what I was looking for.

Cathythoughts Sounds like - nice cover shame about the book - because the cover is very good 7y
