How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours
How to Date a Douchebag: The Studying Hours | Sara Ney
8 posts | 25 read | 7 to read
CRUDE. ARROGANT. A**HOLE. No doubt about it, Sebastian 'Oz' Osborne is the university's most celebrated student athlete-and possibly the biggest douchebag. A walking, talking cliche, he has a filthy mouth, a fantastic body, and doesn't give a sh*t about what you or anyone else thinks. SMART. CLASSY. CONSERVATIVE. Make no mistake, Jameson Clarke may be the university's most diligent student-but she is no prude. Spending most of her time in the hallowed halls of the library, James is wary of pervs, jocks, and douchebags-and Oz Osborne is all three. She's smart, sarcastic-and not what he expected. ...EVERY DOUCHBAG HAS HIS WEAKNESS. He wants to be friends. He wants to spend time with her. He wants to drive her crazy. He wants... Her."

I don't generally like NA, but this wasn't the usual insta-love tripe the genre can sometimes contain. I was pleasantly impressed with the respect the heroine had for herself, and the way the hero had to earn her respect. Ney created an entertaining plot in this slow burn romance. Loved it! ❤️#romance #newadult

I ploughed through quite a bit of frivolous contemporary novels in a quest of a good one in my reading slump. College YA novels usually don't appeal to me because i am double that age but it is always easy to go back and remember that period as it defines the person you are now. Hero is believably a douchebag of highest order and heroine is one smart gal. The banter is off the the charts, dripping with tension and chemistry. Loved this one

There seems to be a trend with contemporary and NA romances where the authors bend the characters towards this crass shallow attitude in an effort to make the characters more youthful. I absolutely detest this style of writing and character development. All you get is flat, one dimensional characters and they're not books I want to read.

I read this in a few hours - loved the banter between the characters and the no-nonsensical way in which she dealt with him. He was a douchebag, true - but one that you'll love!
Reminded me a little bit of Hayley and Nathan from One Tree Hill.
