First Contact: Or, It's Later Than You Think | Evan Mandery
4 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
What a hilarious ridethe bersurreal meets The Daily Show. Tim Dorsey, author of Nuclear Jellyfish In the bestselling and rightfully cult-inspiring tradition of Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Adams comes First Contactan hysterically funny satire about Presidential politics and intergalactic misunderstanding. This smart and biting novel by Evan Manderyan author equally well-versed in the lives of the U.S. presidents, existential philosophy, and the Simpsonsoffers much food for intellectual thought along with an all-you-can-eat buffet of laughs, as it chronicles the first close encounters between earthlings and a vastly superior extraterrestrial race from Rigel-Rigel. As the subtitle of First Contact so presciently informs us, Its Later than You Think.

This book made me happy. It reminds me so much of Vonnegut. It is hilarious, thought-provoking and witty. I loved when the author broke the fourth wall... and then found a fifth wall to Kool-Aid man through??? Highly recommend for those who like anti-utopian sci-fi.

“Sometimes [Vonnegut] illustrated these lighthearted discussions with simple drawings, which were pretty lousy but fun”
This passage makes me smile so much. I‘m a Vonnegut freak. I have two tattoos inspired by him. I visit the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library every year. I have his portrait on my car. 😂 You *might* call me obsessed. #kurtvonnegut #vonnegut #soitgoes

My body is saying it‘s too old for rock climbing. 😂 I can barely sit up so I‘m cuddled up in bed reading for the rest of the day.

At least I have my comfy quilt, this hilarious bookmark, and the sound of rain to keep my company.
