pickMaddy steps out of her comfort zone while visiting her quirky, magical grandma in the bayou. She makes friends, falls in love with the region's soul, and sees an ancient goddess from Africa. I loved this. The characters are wonderful, and the mythology is really well incorporated. The characters of the bayou and their love of good food and kinship gave this story so much life.
