Celaena Sardothien has survived deadly contest and shattering heartbreak, now must travel to new lands to confront her darkest truth about her heritage that could change her life and future forever. Brutal and monstrous forces are gathering. She must find strength to battle inner demons, and the evil about to be unleashed. 4/5 I really liked this one. Love how all the stories from AB are starting to twine together. Bawled for some of this one

I have mixed feelings on this book. On one hand it felt like a unique magic system. On the other I feel like I‘ve seen some of the plot play out when watching the first few seasons of ‘Vikings.‘ The FMC is manipulated and treated like garbage by all except the MMC. And all she feels is guilt the whole time for being a ‘bad‘ wife/daughter/sister. For 400+ pages. It was a bit exhausting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Odd experience for me as an adult reader. I love picture books, when you can spend a brief moment in a little story, when consuming the text arguably takes less time than admiring the illustrations.
I enjoy a lot of graphic novels, where the image vs text consumption time is about equal.
But there's something about early reader level chapter books with a smattering of illustrations - it's like the ratio is off. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/? I can and do enjoy image-free books of all lengths, but this, given the size of the font, even split into smaller chapters, set up for a certain reading level, for my personal reading comprehension, it just felt like a poorly-paced short story. 🤷🏼‍♂️
There's no way for me to see its full merit because I'm really not the target audience.

Robotswithpersonality 3/? I enjoy the premise of a magical treehouse that takes you to other times and places via a simple wish and the material in a stock of books, it's a lovely and simple metaphor about the transformative power of reading, complete with little factoids you can learn from reading books, this time about dinosaurs. 6h
Robotswithpersonality 4/? It looks like there are different reader levels within the series, but this is the part where I admit I haven't had the best luck with children's chapter books, reading them as an adult, so this was kind of a Hail Mary to start with. I am glad I got a taste for the nostalgia without having to spend much more than 60 pages in the world. Apologies if I just offended someone on behalf of their childhood faves. 😬 6h
Robotswithpersonality 5/5 Good news, aside from an unrealistically positive view to climbing into strange buildings in trees and the friendliness of dinosaurs to small children, I didn't see anything sketchy in this children's book from 1992, and that's kind of a rarity! 6h

5✨ This was not a surprise 5 Star for me because I have read it close to when it was copy written in 2003/2005. I loved it then and I love it now! It also caused me to follow the author ever since. The princess Ani is forced to become Isi and the Goose Girl for the king of her arranged marriages land. All in her company died to save her, but the villain in this story did not anticipate the talents of Ani‘s animal speak, and her determination.

Was hesitant to read this thinking it was like all of the rest lately in the world of Romantasy. Loved this new world that the author has set up which mixes all of those creatures that we love. Not just fae but vampires and even a splash of witchery. Chunky book but it all needed to be there. 🧚🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️ 2 nd book out Fall of 2025, 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 1 Ch.13-15: hmm a simple archery contest as the first test? I feel like they‘re lulling the competitors into a false sense of security. Or maybe going easy on them simply because one of them was just murdered. Something is going on. It has to do with the King‘s secrecy and with the dead hounds I‘ll bet. Perhaps there is a predator - man or beast - within Adarlan. ⬇️

StayCurious Maybe that‘s why the king feels he needs a champion in the first place. Whatever it is - things are getting more tense. 12h
BarkingMadRead This was so crazy, and I‘m hoping that C gets to hang with the princess. Seems like a long shot though. And archery?!? So lame. But I‘m dying to know what is killing the dogs 😢 12h

mcctrish Twice the black stone ring on Cain‘s finger has been mentioned - is it magic ? Does he get strength from it ? 12h
StayCurious @mcctrish yeah I thought of a magic ring as well - it‘s unlikely to be a wedding ring haha 10h
5feet.of.fury Loved her inability to play it cool for this one, wonder how much attention she attracted with the bullseyes. What‘s killing the dogs? And what happened to the Eye Eater ? 10h
LiseWorks Oh, I would have done the same with the archery, I just couldn't help myself having done archery in high school. Lots of questions here, the ring, the murder, the princess. 9h
Roary47 I like that she made some connections in these chapters. Interesting how many of us mentioned the eye eater when he was mentioned and he ends up dead. I‘m wondering if Nox really needed help with throwing or he is just trying to lay low like she is supposed to. 7h
Butterfinger A lot happened here. Possible allies with Nox and the Princess. I just can't think she is a cold-blooded killer. Even with her imagining ways to kill Cain, would she kill him from anger or resentment? I think she shows more restraint because she shows empathy for the peasants, Pelor, and she still feels guilty for leaving her fellow prisoners behind. She is a fun character. 7h

Happy Tuesday! Pride Reading challenge update.
I'm continuing to knock off LGBTQ books from my list. I read 6 books from my list plus 3 next in series books. I just had to keep reading to see what happened. I've really liked all the books so far and found some new authors to follow. 📚 🌈

Absolutely loved this book!!! So difficult to put down. Easily my favorite read of the year so far. The origin story of Morgan LeFay, infamous Arthurian sorceress. I look forward to continuing this series. Read for #literarycrew

I nearly stopped reading a few chapters from the end. I was displeased. But she pulled it out in the end and even ended on a vaguely ominous happy note. On to the next in the series. #28-2025

JenlovesJT47 If you‘re talking about what I think you‘re talking about, I had to stop and reread that section three times, blinked slowly then skipped ahead a few pages to make sure, well, you know! 😆 1d
