Mr K and I took this lovely book for an afternoon's outing to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust today. It was gorgeous but it doesn't feel right to be outside in February without a coat!
For your viewing pleasure (or indifferent yawning, as you choose) may I present my duck of the day: the gadwall. He doesn't look much at a glance, granted, but when you take the time to really look his plumage has the most delicate patterning. 😊 #birdnerd

Bookwomble Martin Mere by any chance? That's on my backdoor step 😊🦆 5y

quietlycuriouskate @Bookwomble Slimbridge (on my doorstep 😃) but Martin Mere is on my birding list. 🐦🐤 5y
Bookwomble @kathedron Save up - it's not cheep! (Forgive pun 😁) Meresands Woods is close to Martin Mere - much smaller, but lovely and some interesting wildlife. 5y

It's stopped snowing (more, or possibly freezing rain, forecast for this afternoon) but the wind is still bitter. It's certainly bringing the birds into the garden. Alongside the usual crew I've seen a song thrush and a pair of fieldfares this morning. #birdnerd

I'm really enjoying this book and all the pretty illustrations make me happy. #BirdNerd

Chessa Oooh! I'm a wannabe bird nerd! Those illustrations look lovely. 8y
BellaBookNook @Chessa It is a fun book and really makes me believe I could improve my birding skills (which I must admit are quite non existent!). 8y
