Pickpick

📚AMAZON KINDLE MAY DEAL ALERT 📚 - My top 2 Mystery/Thriller books for May are #AsGoodAsGone and #PrettyBaby 📚 I loved reading both of these. Both are fast-paced, edge of your seat type reads. This is Amy Gentry's break-out novel and I look forward to reading more! Mary Kubica is an established author (The Good Girl and Don't You Cry). Great deals! Highly recommend both!

melbeautyandbooks I agree! 7y
Jess7 @melbeautyandbooks I'm glad you liked these and recommend them! I have liked Mary Kubica for awhile, but I was super impressed and beyond excited to discover Amy Gentry. I love stumbling across new authors and expanding my goto author list for mystery/thriller novels bc I have read plenty of books by new authors that were just so-so. Not the case with Amy Gentry! She is excellent! 7y
melbeautyandbooks @Jess7 - Yes! Mystery/thrillers are my favorite! It is so great to find a new author that you really like. The only downside is, there are no other books of theirs to read right away. There are so many mystery/thriller authors out there, but they are definitely not all fabulous. I'm looking forward to Amy Gentry's next book (whenever she writes one). And Mary Kubica's is coming soon! Yay for us. 7y

Jess7 @melbeautyandbooks absolutely! I'm excited for #EveryLastLie ! I discovered Gilly MacMillan the same time I found Amy Gentry. If you haven't read her books yet, try them out #ThePerfectGirl and #WhatSheKnew. I haven't read WSK yet, but I plan to. She also has a new one coming out, Odd Child Out. Who are some of your favorite mystery/thriller authors? 7y
melbeautyandbooks @Jess7 - I read both of those. They were really good. Tana French is a favorite for sure. Linwood Barclay and Chevy Stephens. The late, great Henning Mankell. Karin Slaughter, Jennifer McMahon, and SJ (Sharon) Bolton. Who are your favorites? 7y
Jess7 @melbeautyandbooks I haven't read #TanaFrench yet, but she is on my list. Which of her books should I read first? The only #KarinSlaughter book I read was #PrettyGirls and although is was suspenseful, the torture scenes were too much for me and that's saying a lot bc I like dark twisted characters. #TheOneILeftBehind by #JenniferMcMahon is on my to read list. Never heard of the others. 7y
Jess7 Some of my favorite authors of this genre: Gillian Flynn, Mary Kubica, Amy Gentry, Gilly MacMillan, Abigail Haas, Holly Brown, Megan Miranda, Kate Morton, Kimberly McCreight, Liane Moriarty, Ruth Ware, Herman Koch. (edited) 7y
melbeautyandbooks @Jess7- I would start with In the Woods. It is the first in the series, although that doesn't matter that much because this series doesn't follow the same main character in each book. The main character of one, might be a secondary character in another. It's just a really good book of hers. Yes Karin Slaughter does write some rough stuff. 7y
Jess7 I've also read some by these authors that were good, but not great for me: Jessica Knoll, Emma Healy, Calia Reed, Lauren Oliver, and Kate Morietti. I liked William Landay (Defending Jacob) too. On my to read list: Erin Kelly, Barbra Kingsolver (the poison wood bible), Peter Swanson, BA Paris, Louise Jenson, Heidi Pitlor, Kate Hamer, AJ banner, Marcia Clark (I've read her nonfiction, but not fiction), Terri blackstock, Fiona Barton, Sharon guskin 7y
melbeautyandbooks We have similar tastes for sure. I have read all of them except Abigail Haas, Holly Brown, and Kate Morton. I will have to add them to my list. I just finished All the Missing Girls and I'm about to start The Perfect Stranger. 7y
Jess7 @melbeautyandbooks I liked #DangerousGirls by Abigail Haas. I haven't read her second one Dangerous Boys yet. I read #DontTryToFindMe by Holly Brown. I couldn't get through #TheNecessaryEnd (too slow of a start). I loved #TheLakeHouse by Kate Morton. She is very detailed which I don't usually like, but I loved this book. I plan to read #DistantHours or #TheSecretKeeper next 7y
melbeautyandbooks @Jess7 - Defending Jacob was great. I was just talking to someone on Litsy recently about how he hasn't written another book since then. I recognize some of those names, but I don't think I have read any, except Peter Swanson-liked. BA Paris- only read one and it was good not great for me. I've heard Marcia Clark's fiction is pretty good. Haven't read any yet though. 7y
Jess7 @melbeautyandbooks #WilliamLanday had two other books - #MissionFlats and #TheStrangler but I haven't read them yet. #ThekindworthKilling by #peterswanson is first on my list 7y
melbeautyandbooks @Jess7 The Kind Worth Killing was really good. I liked Her Every Fear, too. I read Mission Flats, but not The Strangler. 7y
