A teacher could use this book to encourage kids to try their best and be honest, even when things don‘t go their way. A teacher could use this in their classroom to study how plants grow and learn about the lifecycle of plants.

Week 4: Traditional Literature. I love the illustrations in this book. So many colors in a very particular way. This book also follows such a great story line. Published in 1990.
“I admire Ping's great courage to appear before me with an empty truth and now I will reward him with my entire kingdom“.
I enjoyed reading this story because the message within the story is important for children to know. The story is all about honesty, the child in the story is rewarded because he is honest to the Emperor. This is a great example to show children a different culture of traditional literature.
This is a Chinese folk-tale about a boy named Ping who loved flowers. The Emperor of China was getting old and needed to pick a new Emperor and decided to let the flowers choose. Ping goes to tell the Emperor the seed did not grow after he tried to grow but it did not. The Emperor tried to trick Ping with bad seeds, but Ping was the only honest child so the Emperor gave Ping the Entire kingdom.
This story has a great message of being honest and doing the right thing, even though it may feel embarrassing or hard to do.
