Have you finished the book yet? It was such a sweet ending, but I want her to write more so I know how the characters stories continue! This is the hardest part for me with books, how do their lives continue? I like to think her brother was able to visit and her dad was able to meet the new baby. How do you think their stories continued after the book ends? #NCHPedsReads #JanPedsReads

Pickpick

Jude is meeting her uncle and is seeing how different her life is back home vs. her uncle‘s life in America. She describes her cousin Sarah as a “cool American” which I find interesting. Jude is already looking at American culture as “cool” because it is so unlike her normal upbringing. This makes me feel as if Jude is excited to learn about being more like the American culture. I‘ll have to keep reading and see!

I can‘t believe Jude left home and decided to leave her family behind. She had is such an amazing character and she has overcome a lot of challenges in her life. I can‘t Believe she did something so brave, I don‘t think I could‘ve done something like this at her age. Do you think you would have been able to accomplish the same things as Jude?

Jude left her home. Jude is such a brave soul to be able to leave in protection of herself! I cannot imagine being so young and making such a big change to my life. Her braveness makes me think about what types of brave things I‘ve done, such as stepping out of my comfort zone. Comment something that makes you brave like Jude!

yahavcohen I think Jude is so brave and I‘m glad you got out of your comfort zone, I can definitely say I have done the same since I started college 5y

Spoiler Alert! Jude has just left what she use to call home! I can not imagine how she must be feeling in this moment! I remember when I was young and I moved from New York to Florida I was so scared. I was worried about my new school, and how life was gonna change going from a city to a more suburban area and so much more, but at least I stood in the U.S. How do you guys think Jude is feeling? #JanPedsReads #NCHPedsReads

sydneydaniels Gio, I‘m sure Jude is feeling nervous or scared just like any other person would. She is so brave to be able to move from home! 5y
Bshelton27 I have personally never made a big move like that but, I couldn‘t imagine. I would be so nervous! I‘m glad the author wrote about this in her story because I feel like we will have students in similar situations as Jude! #JanPedsReads #NCHPedsReads 5y

Jude has made the move and left her family behind. She has overcome many obstacles and continues to in her new home. Being in a new country with a new language is difficult but throw in cultural differences and it‘s a whole other ball game! #NCHPedsReads #janPEDSreads

Jude left her family for her own safety and the safety of her family. I can‘t imagine the type of courage it takes to be Jude‘s mom. You have to start over in a new country with brand new customs and language, all while leaving your son and father in an area you know is dangerous. These are the types of situations that galvanize or tear apart a family. I hope for Jude‘s sake, it‘s the former. @NCHPedsReads #JanPEDSReads

Giovanny_Vargas The fact that Jude and her mom left leaving her brother and father behind made me so sad! I cannot imagine having to split up from my siblings let alone leaving them behind somewhere that is very dangerous. #JanPedsReads #NCHPedsReads 5y
