Why have I not read Dawn Powell before?
I made the mistake thinking this was a horror book. (it‘s classified as one) This book is just not the book for me, the writing was cringy and eye roll worthy. The ending was even worse. Just no accountability for serious actions to a serious lack of control in a hostile situation. Only likable character was the little brother. Over all. No.

Always love the way Fiona Davis uses real #NYC buildings for setting her historical fiction, especially when I've been there. Just starting this one.

I have been listening to this while doing a cross stitch project. This one is number 58 in the series. I didn't like the MC I found that she yelled a lot. The story was interesting and really different as we knew the killer right away
Not who he was but what he was thinking. I got lots of bingo spots with this one. #ISpyBingoOctNov @TheAromaofBooks #Read2025 @DieAReader

This morning I am thankful for …
A new day
Quiet mornings
Good coffee
Sleeping in without an alarm clock
Time to read
Well told stories
And all of you to share it with.

Such a beautiful story. Bennet is carrying heavy grief, but I‘m glad she realizes it‘s not her fault and easily forgives herself. Do men like Henry even exist, because he‘s perfect?! No spice for most of the book, just pent up frustration, until the last quarter of the book. I ignored my family and devoured this book in an afternoon. Book #86 in 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A well written and interesting book about the Barbizon Hotel, a refuge for ambitious women coming to New York. Many interesting and promising women found a safe place here between the 1920s and 2005. They arrived young and ambitious and had a chance to become self aware and successful career women. I knew nothing about this hotel and enjoyed learning about it.

I am reading off my shelves, finishing reading challenges and eagerly waiting for the ToB longlist to be announced.
For now I am almost finished reading Your Steps on the Stairs, a very weird read. Next will be The Children of Red Peak, that I meant to read last week but forgot somehow. The Barbizon I hope to start too.

When someone else is enthusiastic about a book:
But you have read it recently and are just "meh"....?
