This was such a fun romance set in NYC!

This was my first book by Alex Aster, so going into it I had no set expectations. I was pleasantly impressed!

Immediately, I was drawn in by the author‘s writing style. It was easy, effortless, and genuinely funny.

As for the two main characters, Elle and Parker, I liked Parker way more than I liked Elle.

A novel reflecting on teenage years of two adults who grew up in NYC. Sometimes funny and other times sad, the kids while attending a Quaker School are trying to decide who they are sexually. The imagination runs a bit wild. No matter where you identify yourself sexually, or where you grew up, this novel had me recalling my memories during my teenage years. I gave this a solid 4.5/5⭐️

I loved the back and forth perspective/years. And the plot! Well done!

I can‘t seem to settle on my next book so I‘m going to see if a mystery will draw me in enough to stick with it.

LoverOfLearning Such a cool cover! 1mo

Well, what to say... Intriguing and cringey as you watch her choices and decisions that she justifies so easily.
Interesting perspective on race and class, economics and society and what we each perceive as entitlement. Very different in approach and extremely readable!

I really wanted to love this book, but for whatever reason it didn‘t strike a cord with me. Maybe I‘m not in the right frame of mind. But it looks like I borrowed this book from the library once before and returned it. And I‘m doing that again. If you read this and you love the book, that‘s fabulous.

KadaGul @CatLass007 I I totally understand where you're coming from! I tried reading this book 📖once, but I found 🔎 it hard to get past the second ✌️chapter. I figured 🧐it was just me and my mood 🙂‍↔️at the time! 2mo
CatLass007 @KadaGul I listened to the first 10%. But I just couldn‘t get any further. 2mo
KadaGul @CatLass007 No Shame in putting in LFL, donating, or gifting. Some books 📖 I couldn't get into, but my friend loved them. @dabbe Infamous word 💬 #HAILTHEBAIL 😁😁 2mo
marleed I have such a soft spot for this book because w/o knowing the setting I first listened to this an audio on a New‘s Year of downright balmy temps as a walked for miles through and around town. Just seeing the cover makes me smile and I‘m back to that long quiet walk. I‘m always fascinated though when someone else has opinions opposite my own on a book. Also realizing that on another day/mood I might share that opposite opinion🤣. 1mo

This last in this series does not disappoint.Midwife Sarah Malloy & her PI husband Frank, investigate the death of a young woman who is determined to publish an expose on patent remedies( containing mostly alcohol & other addictive drugs). The victim‘s father asks couple to find justice for his daughter.Historic details such as the difference between various carriages & the introduction of the electric car add authenticity to the story.Partaking 🔽

kspenmoll 🔼in the major characters growth in themselves & in their relationships with each other has been an added bonus. They include Sarah, her parents, Frank, his mother, their two children, Maeve, the children‘s nanny & The PI firm‘s part time investigator, & Gino, the PI firm‘s full time investigator & Maeve‘s love interest. Sadly, the series‘s author, Victoria Thompson, died of cancer in 2024. (edited) 2mo
Deblovestoread @Chrissyreadit led me to this series, which I loved. Was so sad when Victoria passed 2mo
Chrissyreadit @kspenmoll @Deblovestoread I did not realize Victoria Thompson died- I am so sad. I love this series so much. I‘m glad to hear you both have also enjoyed it. It‘s feels so odd to lose an author and feel grief because of losing the characters too. 2mo
kspenmoll @Chrissyreadit I feel the same. I think it as a sign of a good author when we are sad to lose the characters- I was invested in them!!!! 2mo
Chrissyreadit @kspenmoll yes- She really was so talented. 😢 2mo

Tried to read while Fenrir got a little stroll outside of his table ... didn't work. The little goober still won't stop only going places he shouldn't and trying to eat things that are clearly not food ... plus he got stuck under a chair. Oh well, I still love him, and at least he's cute

ShelleyBooksie Fenrir is so handsome!!! ♡ 2mo
