Mrs. Collywobbles has a pet frog that protects her from all the danger that is out in the scary woods. The pet frog defends her from all the scary things that come near her house. No one wants to mess with her pet frog.
Another very good MG graphic novel. Aster gets into all sorts of magical hi-jinx when her family moves to a secluded valley. When her dad insists she trade video games for nature walks she gets involved with a trickster who grants wishes, the guardians of the seasons, warrior chestnuts, and a (sometimes) talking dog.
Oh I loved how this ended it honestly felt so unexpected and unique, a direction a absolutely was not expecting. The Hardscrabble children are some the most realistic portrayals of siblings I have read in a long time and I loved them, they were quick to fight but also there for each other when needed. Lots of unexpected dark moments and creepy vibes all through out!
Beware of the Frog written by William Bee in 2008. It is a great fictional children's book that is very humorous for children. It is about a frog and a Mrs. Collywobbles who live on the edge of the dark forrest with fearsome creatures that come to visit. This book has won the Notable Children's Book award. Great read!

Little Miss. Collywobbles has a guard frog that, on three separate occasions, swallows up the ogre, troll, and goblin when they try to come in to her home while she was there. In the end, Mrs. Collywobbles turns into a frog herself and ends up swallowing the guard frog.
Beware of the Frog by William Bee is a great fairytale story to read to students. It is about an old lady who lives by scary woods and some monsters come and try to steal things from her and eat her. She has a tiny frog who is her protector. The ending has a turn of events. It is a fun story that you can use different voices for and i believe any level of students would like this story.
This is a humorous book that was published in 2008. This book is a take on the princess and the frog, along with aspects of the three little pigs. I would definitely recommend this book, and will use this in my classroom!
"Life without father began some few weeks before he actually died, at the moment when he started encasing his head in orange plastic mesh held shut with twine."

"Let‘s turn out the light and—despite the soft gleam of her open eyes in the darkness, despite the sounds of her tossing and turning within her box, despite, as night deepens, her little groans of frustration—let‘s smile and, lying, tell ourselves yes, everything is all right, yes, shhh, yes, she‘s finally asleep."
