Excellent historical fiction about women who operated radar in Hawaii after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and throughout WWII. Sometimes I need a nudge from buddy reads like #LiteraryCrew to get me to read a book that I‘ve got on my library wish list. Women‘s friendships play a key role in the story (along with a cat and her kittens). Found family has played an important role in my life so it‘s one of my favorite themes in fiction.

I love to make plans, set goals, do book challenges (mostly to just make the graphics and lists) and participate in book clubs and #TBR shrinking activities. I do not let them stress me out because I subscribe to Captain Cold‘s 4 rules.
Follow my lead and you‘ll be fine.

December wrap up. I read lots of holiday goodness but I think the tagged was my favorite. ❤️🌟

And we now know everything we need to know about landlady Mrs. Gale and the “gentlemanly” curate… 6% in, in the first chapter 🤣

#RomanceRoundUp
Audrey - Jennifer Hallett, the domineering and foul mouthed producer of Bake Expectations, was my favourite character in the first book (Rosalind Palmer Takes the Cake) so I loved seeing her star in this story. Great fun.
Bar Down - Fine but unexceptional m/m hockey romance.
Look Up Handsome - There was far too much going on in this story - it was a mess, frequently made little sense & the “romance” lacked spark. Disappointing.

🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 I mentioned this in my last post about this book, but I think it's a really cool idea to have the selection from the perspective of the one choosing. Unfortunately, this results in too many good options for the main character and a monogamous marriage that she has to choose. With the first three, I knew which of the love triangle I liked. With this, I like four of the six 😭

I tried my first blind date with a book today, and this is what I got. I haven't started it yet, but the description sounds interesting and I hope it's good.

2025 Book #1
Fun, heartfelt western romance in the classic style of Beverly Jenkins. As always, she creates a passionate romance set against a rich small town cast of characters with lots of interconnection between books. Enjoyed.
