Pickpick

An epic read. Ari Shavit is an amazing storyteller, taking us through the history of #Israel, through the experience of individuals who lived through key moments. Given it‘s quite heavy nf, I found it absolutely fascinating and kept me engaged (until the last chapter, anyhow - I did struggle with the existential musings)

My knowledge of Israel is limited and remote, so much of this was new to me. I appreciated that the author appears to challenge

rockpools himself (and us) with conversations of opposing views. He addresses less-positive aspects of Israel‘s past and present directly. I come away from this feeling I‘ve learnt loads, I‘ve gained a little understanding and I‘ve had an excellent read.

BarbaraBB An excellent review too! 3y
rockpools @BarbaraBB Thanks Barbara! And thanks for the push to actually read it - I‘ve picked this up a few times over the last few years, but never actually started it - Libby helpfully informed me it would take me 129 years to read it at that rate! 3y
BarbaraBB The challenge really helps to pick up some books that have been sitting on our shelves way too long! (edited) 3y
rockpools I keep forgetting to add challenge tags - this is also for #NonFiction2021 #SomethingWrittenInAnotherCountry @Riveted_Reader_Melissa 3y
