Busy Mama life and a horrible reading slump the last couple of months (though there have been a couple really good reads when I was able to consume some pages) have taken me away from Litsy most of the time... but this is my #CurrentRead. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.

We are beginning the transition of Mama going back to work full time instead of just part time, so we are trying to get into the swing of things. And when I'm off, I spend my days chasing after her!!! 😊😊😊 5y

I received #Accused free from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

vkois88 The book is comprised of transcripts from a podcast the authors did based on the murder, and includes interviews with some key players in the victim's life, as well as a few of the investigators who actually agreed to talk about the case. Unfortunately this wasn't many, as all the investigators thought they knew who had murdered Elizabeth right away. They were disgusted when not one, but TWO separate juries found the suspect not guilty. The case soon went cold. When Amber & Amanda decide to dive into the case, they realized.there were multiple other potential subjects. However, none of them can ever be tested against forensic evidence, as it has all somehow managed to vanish... I enjoyed reading this one, though it is sad that Elizabeth's family may never have the answers & closure they so desperately desire (and deserve). 3.5🌟

Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three | Mara Leveritt

This was actually a re-read for me. I had read the physical copy a few years ago, but recently listened to a #TrueCrime podcast that went over the case and it made me want to revisit West Memphis and hear the author's take on the trials again. While she seems to be slightly biased against John Mark Byers and leans heavily towards placing the blame on him (and he IS admittedly a loathsome person), I feel like the book offers great explanations

It also offers an inside look at some of the files related to the case (if you have the physical copy), and even offers an updated version to include what ended up happening with the WM3. Definitely a good pick to finish on this #TrueCrimeTuesday ... a 3.5/4🌟 rating 6y

I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer | Michelle McNamara

There's nothing like waking up, thinking it's Wednesday (which is my Friday, essentially), and realizing an hour later that it's only Tuesday 😔😔 Darn. Well, at least I can listen to this one that FINALLY CAME THROUGH after 6 1/2 months on hold!!! I'm so excited for #TrueCrimeTuesday (is that a thing??) Going to listen to this on #Libby while I work on a couple of projects & LO naps.

tdrosebud Is Wednesday always your Friday? Just curious since Tuesday is my Friday and it's nice to meet someone else with a non traditional work week. 6y

vkois88 @tdrosebud yes! I work evenings Sunday-Wednesday, off Thursday & Friday, and a mid on Saturday. Thankfully the evenings aren't AS late on Sundays. It sucks closing pretty much every day I close but I can't help that during the week, since I have my daughter 6y
