This was the first book that came to mind for the prompt tyrannical government. I only read it once as a teenager but almost never want to read it again, it was so depressing! 😟

LostInSpace I read 1984 at the start of the pandemic and 3 month lockdown, kind of apt reading it at that time! 4y

Klou Another George Orwell pick!! I read this this spring and really liked it, but then it was one we started in school a few years ago and never finished and I was so eager to read the rest. I can see what you mean though; it wasn't the brightest of topics. 4y

BkClubCare I was substitute teaching and got a class where I was instructed to read aloud from this book. I almost couldn‘t do it! Almost started crying with the weight of it all. It was a tough day... those kids didn‘t know me, didn‘t have a trust in me. It was incredible for me to help keep it all together with the weight of the responsibility I felt I had to give. 4y
