The last show I had tickets for before the shutdown was Classic Stage Company's production of Assassins, and I was so, so sad to lose the chance to see this little-produced musical (and my favorite Sondheim). Tonight CSC put together a wonderful virtual celebration of Assassins, and it inspired me to revisit this John Wilkes Booth bio. And also to pull out every recording of Assassins I own, because perfect musical is perfect. #SeeMoreTheatre

pickHuh...I literally knew nothing of 99% (showing my Canadian ignorance) of this story. We never learnt about that in Canada. I just know of the reference to Booth and Lincoln in the theatre because of movies and TV. It was written with a narrative which made it come off almost fictional.
