Mehso-so

I enjoyed this treacherous tale for the most part, but the end was questionable. It just…… ended…..unless I missed something. I needed something more.

The narration is impeccable.

Why was the setting nearly exclusively in one bed chamber or another? 😜 Unless chambers were the equivalent of apartments today.

The writing won‘t matter when Juliet Stevenson is one of the narrators. 😃

jlhammar She is the best! I haven‘t read this one yet, but looking forward to his follow-up to Brooklyn 7mo
Tamra @jlhammar I think this is my first by him. 🤞🏾 7mo

Pickpick

Colm Tóibín's re-telling of the events from the first two plays of “The Oresteia“.

The story is stripped down to its essentials of characters and events. If you didn't know the story in advance, there is nothing really to suggest that we are in Bronze Age Greece rather than any other society before the invention of firearms. This made it curiously uninvolving emotionally for the most part and yet completely compelling.

Soubhiville I‘ve got 3 of his books on my shelf and I really should read them 😆. I‘ve seen so many great reviews. 1y
rwmg @Soubhiville I don't think I'd ever heard of him till my book club chose “Brooklyn“ for August 2020. I've also read a novella of his. I do quail a bit at the thought of his books based on Thomas Mann and Henry James, neither of whose works I have ever read. 1y

Clytemnestra is a great debut! Huntress. Warrior. Mother. Murderess. Queen. All one woman. I haven't read any Greek Mythology since college, but I recognized all the names.
