I read most of this series back in middle school, but when I found it for $3 online I knew I had to reread it. The nostalgia is there, but as an adult looking back, I‘m able to recognize that they aren‘t as good as I remember them being.

If you‘d like to read my reviews of each individual story, I have them posted on my blog (!!!): rainyreader.com. Very proud of how it‘s turned out, and excited to finally get it up and running!

wanderinglynn Your blog looks great! I especially love the “What I‘m reading” section. Did you use a platform (Wordpress, wix, etc.) or build it yourself? Also did you know that U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has a wildlife forensics lab? Thought as a biologist & forensic scientists, you might find that interesting. 2y
MsRadioSilence I used Wix! They had a deal i couldnt refuse haha. And i did not know that! Im trying to get a job at the Department of Forensic Science in RVA doing DNA analysis @wanderinglynn 2y
wanderinglynn The FWS Forensics Lab is really cool. I got to tour it when I worked at the Department of the Interior. https://www.fws.gov/lab/ 2y

That was exciting! A bit of horror along with the usual action/suspense/fantasy as we find out that Tianna is actually a creation of the Atrox who was raised by a Daughter of the Moon. Now everything makes sense why she‘s so powerful and beautiful. Like Catty, Tianna has never been a favorite of mine, but this series ender was very exciting.

Catty was never one of my favorite goddesses of the series. The first half of this book was pretty slow. Only started getting interesting when Kyle took her to Nefandus and things started to fall into place about her father, the Scroll, and Chris.

That was really good. I remember liking this one the least when I read it as a teen, but now I like it the best! It‘s not at all in the same vein as the others but it‘s the origin story of Maggie as she is preparing to pass on the Magna Mater role to another. We learn her history in ancient Greece, how she came to love Hector, how she became a servant of Selene, how she gained immortality, and how she met Chrysippus.

I like Jimena as a character but the plot was disappointing. Also, prison was very unrealistic in here. Neat incorporation of nymphs as adversaries, though. I like that the author brings in goddesses and mythical beings from their dark sides as well as their good sides. And Jimena made her choice, abruptly I should say, to stay!

The author keeps the characters consistent and really sells their backstories. A bit predictable but still a good read

Serena is my favorite of the goddesses, so good to have another one with her as the main character. So glad Stanton is back, yay! And they can be together because he‘s the Prince of Night, yay! The storyline of Aura taking possession as a wind spirit of Serena was kind of strange and wanting to get Lambert back, but it got better as it went along. Serena now has a bond with Hekate, the dark goddess.

Back to Vanessa in this one, who hasn‘t been center stage since #1. The dancing for dollars scene was super sketchy. With each book of the series, I think more and more how unreal they are as compared with actual teenage girls. This one has Vanessa fooled by Hector, Maggie‘s one-time love in ancient times who was turned demon by the Atrox after he thought he defeated them. Vanessa battles with her own inner demons and jealousy of Tianna.

This was the worst one of the series thus far. Tianna is a completely new character, in which she has memory loss for 206 out of 274 pages. So you, the reader, are stumbling around blindly with her as she is introduced to the Daughters and Followers chasing her. The writing was worse in general as well. By the end, Tianna is made an honorary Goddess of the Moon because of the Atrox killing her family and her help with telekinesis.

I always liked Stanton. This one is all from his perspective. Kind of strange not knowing what any of the goddesses are thinking or doing except through his perspective. He briefly becomes mortal through the girls‘ and the goddess of the dark moon‘s help, but then becomes Atrox again knowing that was the only way he could defeat Lambert and save Serena. The ending was super abrupt though. Cassandra is also annoyingly persistent.
