Satania reminds me of sci-fi movie from the 70s or 80s, where weird stuff happens and it‘s just sort of left for the reader to decide what it means.
In Satania our group of adventures end up in hell and are quickly over their heads in trouble. Vehlmann and Kerascoët don‘t pull any punches as madness and chaos reign down. It‘s a truly beautiful and disturbing read that I can eagerly recommend to any adult who enjoys ‘what the heck?‘ Type books.

The art of Satania is gorgeous. NBM published the book on sturdy, glossy paper, so the colours really pop. Husband-wife team, Kerascoët brings hell to life with their creative illustrations and vibrant palette. Unfortunately there were several noticeable issues with the text. A couple were grammatical but most issues involved part or all of a word missing from a speech bubble. It‘s a shame as this is otherwise such a lovely book.

Finally I completed #Iceland for #readaroundtheworld
& #LitWorld2018GB, on a quick trip to library in town, with view of lush greenery through glass walls.
The meandering tales surrounding the central characters (aptly described 'weird novel' on cover) were too disjointed for me. The bucolic setting was beautifully painted tho. #FinishingFebruary 4
Now, off to #Turkey with Vida & traipse thru other faraway #foreign places. #ReadingResolutions
