Mere Christianity | C. S. Lewis
post image
Pickpick

Beer + book + dog = I think Clive Staples would approve. They form a perf union. Speaking of perf, this book is it. I've read much by CSL, read auto b's of him, about his wife...this book is so full of truth (to me) that I just about died reading it. When an (former) atheist can re-convince me of what I already believe in, he's got something to say. Warning: you'll have to reread each sentence 3X. In MHO? Worth ever word. Thrice. #cslewis

MrBook Perfect set up! #Poolreads are the best reads 😎👌🏻. 8y
Desha Yes! This! C.S. Lewis is a favorite of mine, along with Madeleine L'Engle (particularly her Crosswicks Journals) and Dorothy Sayers (contemporary of C.S. Lewis). I've read most of what he's written and am part of a C.S. Lewis discussion group led by a professor who teaches his works at a local Christian University. She goes to conferences held in England about him! He is such a brilliant person and Mere Christianity is my favorite too! ❤️❤️ (edited) 7y
Joy4Lit @Desha L'engle is amazing!!! Did you ever read her autobiographical book on writing, etc? "Walking on Water. " I highly recommend. I've heard about the C.S. Lewis conferences. Sounds like a wonderful thing!!? 7y
Joy4Lit @Desha Oh, and Dorothy Sayers is the 💣Have read many Lord Peter ones. 7y
Desha Yes!! All three writers are so thought-provoking and to me just fascinating! Actually there is a Dorothy Sayers Society group on Facebook that I'm part of...it's based in England I think and several Aussies take part too. I think you can just request to join. Glad to find a fellow #greatmind ❤️📚📚😍 #greatmindsthinkalike 7y
