Mere Christianity | C. S. Lewis

Lewis truly had a gift to break down complex issues into bit-size understandable chunks.

Looking into the what, the how and the Who behind some questions everyone asks themselves at one point in their lives; and explaining in a sensible manner the why behind Christianity

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve read this book before, but it has been at least 15 years, so it was good to go into it with fresh eyes.
I think Lewis most shines in this one when he is describing the nuances of different types of love, pity, creating, etc.
It was especially interesting to read this book with my study group after reading a more modern view on Hell & the afterlife. Lots of good thoughts & good conversations.

behudd @TheAromaofBooks forgot to say - this was my May #bookspin book! 1w

I loved this gorgeous graphic novel exploring the friendship between C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and how they influenced each other creatively. Hendrix also delves into the meaning of myth and other types of stories. Beautifully, brilliantly done.

3 ⭐This book uses the idea of amusement park to discuss the various animals one would find in the ocean. It‘s interesting and educational. I really do like the illustrations however, as fantastic as they are I think they do little to service the information that‘s being portrayed. This book would have been better with real pictures of the real animals.

Tepid pick for IRL book club. The narrative starts out strong and the ending is good, but the middle meanders with descriptions of other worldly beings and landscapes without much character development or plot.

The best line was the MC realizing he couldn‘t trust alien shepherds because after all, the cyclops were shepherds too. 🤣

Was using the foil of sci fi for spiritual philosophy a new thing? (1938)

quietlycuriouskate I remember loving this when I read it as a kid: your review makes me disinclined to risk a re-read, though. 3mo
