I love it when superhero comics embrace continuity so‘s to invite newer readers in instead of signalling they don‘t belong. Vendetti and Hitch are great at that. Their Hawkman is ever aware of his past lives and his place in the DC Universe, but his deep dive into his own origins comes with zero readerly prerequisites. Established fans will see callbacks; newer readers, like me, will find tantalizing hints of a big, easily discoverable world.
