There are 2 types of people...those that love eggnog and those that get coal in their stockings. 😘
 @Jess7

vivastory I only like it with southern comfort 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @vivastory I love making paralyzer's with it. Obviously using eggnog instead of milk or cream! 🤗 6y
FlowerFairy The #manpanion puts it in his coffee. I have to grab mine and make a run for it before he manages to slip it into mine as well. #nothankyou. 6y

vivastory Had to Google paralyzers. Going to try it tomorrow! What portion of rum/Pepsi do you use? 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @vivastory I like mine a bit fizzie so I usually go with 3-3 1/2oz or even a bit more. 1-2oz rum, splash of coffee liqueur, ice and top the rest up with nog. 🤗 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @vivastory Paralyzers can also be made with vodka or tequila - but I find rum best if you are doing it with eggnog. 👌 6y
vivastory Awesome. Going to give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks! 6y
teebe I've never had eggnog. I've always wanted to try it but I've been told that store-bought is the worst. 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @teebe I don't mind store bought - but yes, it is very different than homemade. The homemade stuff is waaaaay lighter and not nearly as thick. This is actually the first year I haven't made any for the holidays in like...forever. Maybe I should make that my mission tomorrow. 🤔 6y
LeahBergen I like it - but it has to have a heavy pour of Kraken in it! 😆 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @LeahBergen you have excellent taste. One of my favorite dark rums! 6y
Melissa_J I‘m not a fan, but my husband loves it! He picks some up each year as soon as it‘s available in stores. 6y
GripLitGrl Love eggnog with bandy & cinnamon. 6y

It's not an Aussie Christmas without a plateful of prawns.

AceOnRoam So true! Enjoy. My mouth is watering 🍤🍤🍤 6y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook Really? So interesting. We South Africans/Namibians are having a braai today and there's gammon (and I think two other kinds of meat!) for tomorrow. I'll have to ask my SIL if they're doing the prawn thing. 6y

Joanne1 @MommyWantsToReadHerBook I love hearing what others eat at Christmas. You'll have to explain both a braai and gammon. I'm not familiar with either. Many in Australia have the traditional turkey (often with prawn starters) but for me that makes no sense. It's too hot for such a heavy meal. My preference is seafood, cold meats and salad. 6y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook @Joanne1 you need to meet some South Africans and have them show you how to braai 😊 6y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook Braai is barbecue, South African style 😊 Today we're braaiing beef sausage and oryx fillet (Namibia has wonderful meat). And we make cheese, tomato and onion sandwiches and also grill them on the fire, and make salad. Gammon is a piece of pork, basically, that you can bake in the oven or boil and eat cold. It tastes much better than it sounds. 6y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook I grew up with sort-of German style Christmas Eve big meal and presents, others South Africans just do Christmas day. And for a lot of people it's basically a nice meal, we used to have turkey for some reason but there doesn't seem to be anything typically South African or any rules. 6y
Joanne1 @MommyWantsToReadHerBook that sounds so interesting. I definitely need a South African in my life by the sounds of it. I have a Zimbabwean friend but to date he has shared no BBQ techniques with me. 6y
