Is your library next? Is this what you voted for?

Librarybelle So horrible 3mo

Bookwormjillk This is awful (but I think I read they opened again this morning, so that's good I guess.) 3mo

DogMomIrene Watched a Boston news segment on YouTube about how it reopened this morning. Said 5 visitor-facing probationary employees were laid off, though, and that sounds permanent. Just awful. 3mo
dabbe I am moved to say this word that's so hard to say: NO. No, I didn't vote for this. And I stand with my head held high as I now do this: 😡😤🤬 3mo

AmyG I am beyond happy to hear it reopened! 3mo
ChaoticMissAdventures I hate how much chaos they are causing. It appears the library is reopened, but I cannot find if they brought back enough staff to keep it open? I am not at all surprised unfortunately, this administration hates history and truth. 3mo
bookishbitch I am so over this administration already. 3mo
AnnCrystal Glad that it reopened.

Scary times 😢 I didn't vote for this either 📚🇺🇲🦅🇺🇸📚.

Books & artist will always be considered a threat. We should gather and do a protest by going outside, finding a safe, legal place to sit, and read from dawn to dusk for a day. If anything, it will drive the suppressors crazy. Writers should come with typewrites or journals and artist with canvases.

Just to be clear, I am not officially suggesting this 😜📚💝.

BarbaraBB Are libraries being shut down in the US? Because of money or because of that horrible man? 3mo
Lindy Amy, I feel odd acknowledging your post with a heart. I want the option of a broken heart instead. 😔 3mo
AmyG Oh @Lindy 😞 3mo
forestandcrow My library is trying to change my kids library card to where she cannot check out books they deem "inappropriate" for her age. They are trying to also not let us use our cards at other libraries not in our network. They are moving books that the religious zealouts here deem "pornographic" or "inappropriate" for kids without reading them. Our library is aleeady small enough. It is awful. I have emailed so manytimes about it all. 3mo
Susanita Hateful people doing hateful things. 3mo
AmyG @forestandcrow That‘s horrible. I am now trying to make a library of books for my grandson-history, science, banned books…from used book sales. This world. 😞🤬 3mo

AshleyHoss820 And people made fun of me for amassing a large in-home library. I knew what was coming. This is all so exhausting. (edited) 3mo
CoverToCoverGirl This all so sad and overwhelming.. 3mo
ncsufoxes We are going to try & go to the Smithsonian‘s National African American Museum of History & Culture this weekend. Since I fear they will be spiteful & shut it down. 3mo
AmyG @AshleyHoss820 I‘m with you on this. 👊🏻 @ncsufoxes That you even had to type that breaks my heart. @CoverToCoverGirl It is. 😢 (edited) 3mo
ncsufoxes @AmyG same, it makes me sad & angry that this is something I have to even think about 3mo

Awesome book about the life of one of Americas most iconic presidents! Enjoyed the dives into JFKs life history and personal life, and the unbiased history of the assassination itself. Highly recommend!

If you love history, memoirs, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into powerful lives, Clint Hill's Five Presidents is a must-read—or in my case, a must-listen! As a former Secret Service agent, Hill's experiences with presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford are recounted with extraordinary detail. Hill's perspective offers a mix of reverence, heartbreak, and raw honesty. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚

It‘s not a book I would have picked up on my own, but I really enjoyed it, so thanks, Dad ❤️ It was impressively written by JFK but not about himself. Each chapter is a vignette of a courageous point of a Senator‘s career where he followed his own conscience despite his party or constituents or everyone disagreeing with him. Doing what you feel is the right thing doesn‘t win popularity contests.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read this to round out my Kennedy deep dive. It was, of course, super interesting at times, but insanely long for a book covering a six day period. I slogged through.

kspenmoll History channel has a Kennedy documentary we have been watching. 8mo
britt_brooke @kspenmoll I may have to check that out - thanks! 8mo

dabbe @britt_brooke I think a deep dive awaits me, too. I have always been fascinated with the Kennedys--even going to Hyannis Port just to see their compound from a distance. Thanks for the recs! #stacked 🖤🩶🖤 8mo
