Pickpick

This book was originally published in 1995. My copy came out in 2017, fourteen years after Tom Feelings‘ death. This edition includes his original introduction, as well as two others, and an important historical note. #FierceFeb Day 4: Tom Feelings was one of my #ToBeYoungGiftedAndBlack discoveries while I was at the #InternationalYouthLibrary in Munich. His wordless historical book The Middle Passage evokes such a powerful, visceral effect that it is almost like a punch in the gut.

Dreamer: A Novel | Charles Johnson

Had the great pleasure of hearing writer, philosopher, scholar, practicing Buddhist Charles Johnson speak at the Chicago Public Library a few weeks ago. He said that the philosophical question he explores in Dreamer is "How do we end evil without engendering new evil?" I hope to read Dreamer, soon. #charlesjohnson #dreamer #dreams #authorevents #chicagopubliclibrary #middlepassage
