Abdul's Story | Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow

Pickpick

#JuneSpecials Day 16: Abdul is a storyteller – except he hesitates to call himself as one. He finds it difficult to pin down the words that would express the images in his mind. The image above even suggests that Abdul may be suffering from dyslexia or undiagnosed #LearningDisability #LrngDisability. Eventually, Abdul discovered that the mistakes, misspelled words are part of what it means to be a storyteller. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-owi

#BookMail from @jenniferw88 - in lieu of the Blind Date Book, which I'd already read, I got a surprise book from Jenny.

Thank you!

Gives a very heartfelt message of embracing uniqueness and engages readers with vibrate illustrations. This is a very valuable story for any child's library.

Another great book to show the importance of being true to yourself. Even though eraser wishes to be more like a pencil he learns the value of there differences. The humor makes it an enjoyable read for children and adults!

My students 😍 LOVE ❤️ Louie. This book is great for sharing book trauma. This is where I introduce who is responsible when a library book gets damaged (the kid that checked it out). We had some great art come from this lesson.
