In September, I read 10 1/2 books. I dnfed Outlander at the half point. For someone who loves Game of Thrones, I found Outlander too disturbingly violent 🤦🏼‍♀️
My favorites were White Fire, The Deep, Path of Deceit, and The Fellowship of the Ring.

This was a fantastic story about how mermaids came to be. The story itself is tragic. The mermaids came from pregnant slaves who were thrown overboard, and their babies became mermaids or rather the wajinru. One wajinru at a time is chosen to keep all the memories of their people. And it's Yetu's time.

I read this in high school, and I admit I had forgotten most of it. So it was a fun read, and Richard Armitage, who played Thorin in The Hobbit, was a fantastic narrator.

Admittedly, this was barely a pick. But the ending was so nuts that it really made the book. Sarah, her husband and cat, move into the murder house in a rather exclusive neighborhood, and of course, it all goes to hell.
Sarah is extremely unlikable, I mean, I hated her, and her husband was kind of a schmuck but I did love her cat, Reaper.

This is a good, creepy book about a bunch of kids who were all on a children's show together that disappeared, rather literally. Now, as adults, they go back to do a memorial podcast and find some answers.
And yes, there are definitely shades of It but I think it differs enough so the similarities don't scream at you.

Okay, I can't take it anymore, I'm dnfing Outlander. The sexual violence is too much, especially from the so-called hero of the book.
I typically have a high tolerance for dark fantasy, I mean, I'm rereading Game of Thrones. I got about halfway through this monstrosity. I tried to plunge ahead, but I just can't.
For those few who haven't read it, trigger warnings for sexual assault, attempted sexual assaults and violence against everyone 🤦🏼‍♀️

Okay, #BlackCatCrew one more thing, then I'll leave y'all alone until the 1st 🤞🏻
Unlike in the previous years, we are only tallying points mid-October and the first of November. So I will need your first set of points on the 15th and then on the 1st.

This book is about five friends who play RPG games together & have headed off to a secluded cabin for their last game. What could go wrong?
I enjoyed the nuttiness of this book, although the end did drag a bit.
And Bowie's Queen Bitch, the perfect drama queen song & he was rather a drama queen himself. Love Bowie 🖤

I really enjoyed this book, although the ending almost killed me. So this one is about the very start of the Nihil. They began as a force cult called The Path of the Open Hand on Dalma. The Jedi Master Zallah Macri and her Padawan Kevmo Zink are called there to investigate the theft of some Jedi artifacts. There, Kevmo meets and connects with Marda Ro, one of the members of the Path 🖤

This book is barely a pick. While the story is good, the main character, Francine, is really unlikable. Francine lives alone in her home, Thwaite manor. She can't remember most of her childhood, her best friend is a ghost and she has poisonous plants growing in her garden. Just life as normal. Until her sister, Madeline, arrives with the knowledge that they had five other siblings that neither can remember.
