This is my very first book from the Page 1 Books subscription that I splurged on for my birthday. Kudos to Page 1: they managed to find a title I haven‘t heard of, and at the same time they‘ve checked a lot of my like boxes: historical Asian fiction by an Asian woman author. I‘m so excited to read this new release, and I‘m very much looking forward to a new year full of surprise books coming my way! 🤩📚#pageonebooks

I read this haunting book in one sitting. It is at once horror story and allegory. If you need your books to be straightforward and clear, this is not the book for you. It is compelling and frightening and filled with a vague evil. Is this how the world ends? Is it too late to reverse course? #pageonebooks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is an excellent book and one that I will definitely reread. A first person examination of the author‘s life, resulting in a feminist manifesto of sorts. After my initial quick read (it‘s only 134 pages), it deserves a deeper examination. #pageonebooks

HardcoverHearts I am new to her work. I read Hot Milk this year and Things I Didn‘t Want to Know and was dumbfounded at her writing and ideas. I have this one queued up on my TBR. 6y
Suelizbeth @HardcoverHearts I‘m going to have catch up! She has become a new favorite, for sure. 6y

At once stunningly gorgeous and violently brutal, this novel is unexpectedly evocative. The author‘s prose is quite poetic and eloquently portrays the desolate yet beautiful country of the Montana wilderness. I love the author‘s sure command of the written word, but you may want a dictionary handy. Even so, I loved this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #pageonebooks
