I ended up finishing this. It‘s just not what I was expecting. I equate Stephen King with horror and this is, while horrific, a crime novel. I did like Hodges but I really felt that the relationships between the characters were unrealistic. Dialogue was also an issue for me, as were certain historical notes - for example how many teenagers today are aware of party lines on telephones in the past and would reference this? 🤷🏼‍♀️ #xmastree #puremi

This is a fast read about an elderly couple who decide to go on one last road trip following Route 66. It has a definite nostalgic feel, some funny moments, and some heart breaking ones. Ella, the narrator, reminisces about a life lived without fanfare or drama, and her choices.
