I enjoyed most of the chapters, but skipped others. The ones about cannibalism during the Victorian age and about spiders were really interesting. Unfortunately, I lost interest a bit towards the end, when the author took a detour towards livestock diseases. This certainly isn't a book for the faint hearted! The bits about placentas were gross.

Next up on my #audible #TBR! I pre-ordered this one and then forgot about it, so I'm glad to be getting to it. Abnormal and taboo human behaviour is fascinating to me.

Meh. The world-building was flimsy and the ending pissed me off. It halfway defeated the point of Scarlett even going to Caraval, but I guess overall it was ok. A light quick read after my previous read. I have no idea if I'll want to read the sequel that's set up. We'll see.

Claireluana The ending pissed me off! Too deus ex machina for me... 7y
night_shift @Claireluana yeah, it felt weak. Like, I'd been fine if Julian stayed dead. Make it a story of sisterly love instead of her suppose to become independent and instead just trade one man for another -.- 7y
