O Henry‘s The Gift of the Magi is the first short story I remember reading (and loving) as a kid so this was the perfect cap to a really fun seasonal reading experience for me. I‘m definitely ordering this again next year. And since I came to the party late this year, I still have 13 treats to enjoy in the days ahead. Thanks for putting this back on my radar #ssac2017 @Suelizbeth and inspiring me to order this year! @Booksnchill @ReadingRover

Suelizbeth So. Much. Fun. 🎄🎁 6y
Booksnchill 👍❤️ 6y
ReadingRover Lol I came to the party before you and am leaving way later 🤪 I love the stories but was crazy to think that I would have any time to read in December. At least I have them for the new year!!! 6y
Lola @ReadingRover 😛It was definitely hard getting them in everyday-I was really grateful for some of the short ones-especially the verrry short ones 😂But I‘m still at the party, too. I just read Story 1 last night 🙃 6y

Pickpick

This is my second year with this short story advent calendar, and I liked it as much as I did the 2016 calendar. There were some outstanding short stories and some that left me wondering what I had just read. A good mix. #ssac2017. Thank you to @ReadingRover @Lola @Booksnchill for reading along with me. Let‘s do it again next year!

Lola I‘m in! ❤️ And thanks for putting this back on my radar! Without your post, I may have missed it again this year! 6y
Suelizbeth @Lola Yay! And, you‘re welcome. 🎄📚❤️ 6y
Booksnchill Such a fun collection and @Suelizbeth and @lola blurbs were the best! 6y

Betty Please tell me how to order this for 2018 6y
Lola @Betty Here is their website: https://www.hingstonandolsen.com/store/2017-short-story-advent-calendar There may be a newsletter, otherwise, mark the site and check it periodically for 2018 order information. 6y
Redwritinghood This sounds like a really interesting advent calendar. I‘ve marked my calendar to look out for the 2018 version. 6y
Suelizbeth @Betty @Redwritinghood Go to the website mentioned by @Lola and sign up for the newsletter and they‘ll let you know when the 2018 short story advent calendar is available to order. #ssac2017 (edited) 6y
Redwritinghood @Suelizbeth Excellent! Thanks. 6y
Lola I‘m tempted to order the Ghost Box.... 6y
Suelizbeth @Lola It was pretty good, but not as scary as I was hoping, except for the 1st short story. 6y

Technically the last of my short story Advent calendar, but since I ordered it and received it midseason, I have 14 more stories ahead of me. #ssac2017 @Suelizbeth @Booksnchill @ReadingRover

ReadingRover I‘m so behind!!! This is the time when I do the least reading of physical books and the most listening of audiobooks! 6y
Suelizbeth Enjoy the rest of them. 6y
Booksnchill @Suelizbeth @lola it has been so fun reading along and I so looked forward to the one sentence blurbs- you should make this a tradition- It cheered my December!!! Happy Holidays!!❤️❤️🎄😍 6y
Suelizbeth @Booksnchill I will be getting this again next Christmas and I‘ll make a note to include you all. It was fun reading with you, too, @Lola @ReadingRover Happy Holidays!! 6y
ReadingRover @Booksnchill @Suelizbeth @lola Happy Holidays! I‘ll definitely be finishing these as work settles down for me. It‘s nice to have shorts to come home to! 6y

I love that the author sandwiched Bruce Springsteen between Saul Alinsky and Steve Biko. Well played. #ssac2017 @Booksnchill @ReadingRover @Suelizbeth

Booksnchill Such a cute pic!🎅 6y
Lola @Booksnchill Thanks! I think this Santa is much cuter than the Santa I had for 22 😊 (edited) 6y

Settling in with a story by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Yes, that Nathanial Hawthorne. A really nice surprise as yesterday‘s story was very of today in time and place. I hope there are no moms in this tale who are forced to wear The Scarlet Letter 🙃#ssac2017 @Suelizbeth @Booksnchill @ReadingRover

Number 22: The Christmas Banquet by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Besides the fact that he‘s dead, Nathaniel Hawthorne is the last author from whom I would expect a cheerful Christmas story and he does not disappoint. #ssac2017

Lola I loved the surprise of a classic author coming the day after a completely modern story. 6y
Lola And 😂😂 re you blurb ❤️ 6y
Suelizbeth @Lola Yes, me too. ❤️ 6y
Lola Your blurb is 💯 #sociopath. In 1846, no less 😬 6y
