Bye, Baby: A Novel | Carola Lovering
post image
Mehso-so

Friends forever and then no more.

What happened?

We follow Billie and Cassie from their teenage years to adulthood.

BYE, BABY was not the thriller I was expecting but got good around 50% as things are revealed.

It was more about the lives of the characters and petty disagreements.

The Boy Who Cried Bear | Kelley Armstrong

'The Boy Who Cried Bear' is the.second book in the Haven's Rock Series by Kelley Armstrong. Casey and Eric are one of my favorite detective and sheriff duo. They have left Rockton and started a new hidden town in the Yukon called Haven's Rock.

There are a lot of things different between Haven's Rock and ⬇️

Monica5 Rockton. One being that, in Haven's Rock, they allow children. We meet two of the children, Carson and Max, in this installment. They are brothers that moved with their mom when their dad was murdered. One day on a hike, Max notices a bear. This starts the next case for Casey and Eric. While they have the town locked down, Max goes missing.

Armstrong continues to develop all the main characters in this series. Casey, Eric and the others have grown so much from the start of the Rockton series. She finds a way to keep this series interesting. Armstrong always leaves me wanting this next book, but alas I must wait. She combined suspense, mystery and everyday life into a satisfying read.

If you haven't read the Haven's Rock Series yet, you need to, especially if you read the Rockton series and enjoyed it.

THRILLER - MYSTERY

What an ending to this slow burn. It is worth the wait.

Another good one by Ms. Paris as she gives us characters with secrets kept and characters you won‘t want to trust, but can‘t figure out why.

Don‘t miss it.

suvata Hannah presents us with a long-overdue tribute to the heroism, sacrifice, and forgotten role of women who served in that gruesome war.

The Wonder of It All is the final book in the House of Falconer Trilogy. I have read all the books in the trilogy and enjoyed them all. It is a historical fiction story. The trilogy expands from the end of the Victorian Age to the beginning of the 20th Century.

James Falconer is a tycoon in England. It opens with James in WWI. He faces many things in this book and has to make decisions concerning his business. James fights to return ⬇️

Monica5 to the man he once was but he has to find a way to heal his body, soul and family.

Bradford expanded all the characters in the book. She had wonderful character development. Bradford writes in a way that transports into the time of the book. She is a wonderful writer that I think anyone would enjoy reading.

Tentative Publishing Date December 5, 2023.

Not only is he an artist, but also a Jew. Bettina is an abstract artist that is at odds with her family. If artists weren't a certain type in Germany at this time, they also feared for their life. Max tries to get Bettina to leave, but soon it's to late. ⬇️

Monica5 What must they do to survive such a world?

Freethy writes a very moving story. It's Historical Fiction at its finest. A love story that is heartbreaking. Freethy made me feel like I was experiencing everything that went on right during that time in History. There was great character development. I was disgusted at what happened during the Holocaust and pray it never happens again.

If you like historical fiction, love stories, or WWII books, don't miss this one.

Crime • Mystery • Translated from the Japanese • 5 Stars

Throughout this series, I couldn‘t help but think about Agatha Christie‘s Hercule Poirot character. Detective Kaga is Poirot‘s reincarnation in Japan. It becomes even more evident in the titles. ⬇️

suvata Christie‘s last Poirot novel was named Curtain. Higashino‘s last Kaga novel is called The Final Curtain. Coincidence? I think not.

Both detectives, solve their cases by slowly unfolding details, piece by piece, and finding missing pieces along the way until the completed puzzle is finally revealed. I sure hope that my conclusions are incorrect because I would truly miss the impeccable Mr. Kaga. ⬇️

suvata “The Final Curtain” is the fourth book in the Detective Kaga series. The story revolves around the murder of Michiko Oshitani, who was found dead in a rented apartment in Tokyo. The case is connected to the disappearance and death of Detective Kaga‘s mother, which happened years ago. As the police investigate Oshitani‘s past, they reach out to Detective Kaga for advice.

@Reecaspieces I finished this amazing book.

'The Enemy Beside Me' is a wonderful written Historical Fiction, but a hard read. Naomi Ragen is a descendant of Lithuanian Jews, and the daughter-in-law of two Holocaust survivors. She is an amazing author. In 'The Enemy Beside Me', she gives us a glance into what happened to the Lithuanian Jews during WWII.

Milia Gottstein-Lasker, director of the Survivors' Campaign, to be the key note speaker ⬇️

Reecaspieces Nailed it!! It is a hard read. And I had no idea about what happened in Lithuania. 6mo
Monica5 at Lithuania Holocaust Program by Dr. Darius Vidas, a senior lecturer at Algridas University. Her family has always been connected to the Survivors Campaign. Now as the head of it, she has to decide if she can bear to go to a country she hates, and talk to people she has despised. A personal problem helps her decide to go. Once there, she experiences things she never thought she would.

I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 because Milia got on my nerves. Yes, there were reasons to be angry about somethings, but Ragen took it too far at times. It just didn't make sense to me for her to be so angry about some trivial stuff.

If you enjoy Historical Fiction, WWII, or even family drama ( because that's in here, too), I think you would enjoy ready 'The Enemy Beside Me'. I actually think everyone needs to read it, because even though the Holocaust is in the past, if we don't educate ourselves, it or something worse could happen again.
