Monstrously Good

This is the best kind of rags to riches story; there is heartache, heartbreak, tragedy, forgiveness and new beginnings just the kind of story to warm your heart when the nights are cold.

The writing is beautiful and from the opening line I was drawn into Nell‘s world and I enjoyed every minute I spent there!

This is a book that deserves to have the readers full attention and even then I feel that subtle things might slip pass the reader only to have their significance realised later on.

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, who enjoys immersive fiction and who appreciates storytelling that has a voice distinctive of place and time.

This is for those who love a dark family drama with a touch of current affairs thrown in. This is a slow paced book that is best enjoyed at leisure and dare I say it read it now as the setting is the build up to Christmas and the timing really immersed me in the story.

Lives up to everything I wanted as a cozy fantasy! This books is warm and heart felt with a low level of intrigue and adventure to keep everything moving along. All of the characters are masterfully composed and fully formed, I felt like they always existed and were just waiting for me to arrive. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! They were original published as a web series and are being complied into books, and I can barely wait!

In some ways this is a great story of girl power in others it is a painful exploration of race relations in the US from 1943 to 2003.

For a debut novel this one really packs a punch and it does make you think about what it meant and what it still does mean to be a black woman in the US.

I loved this book as much as The Last Flight! It involves two women—one a con-woman and one who‘s struggling with who she is. It alternates between past and present and the twists and turns will keep your head spinning! Highly recommended!
Thanks to #netgally for this ARC!

This was a cute cozy mystery about a psychic travel agent. Who gets approached by a detective for some help on a cold case, after she saves his life by changing his reservation on a doomed flight!?
I really enjoyed the MC and the Detective ?️‍♂️, I laughed out loud when he admitted to a "jugallo" phase??. I really like cozies this time of year, and this one was a sweet one.

I was a little intimidated by this cookbook. The recipes are extremely detailed, and the author recommends measuring ingredients by weight instead of with cups. (She does give the cups measurements also) It is very specific about ingredients and tools. I think I'm an good baker, not a pro.. So while I found this intimidating, I also like a challenge. This doesn't come out until Nov.of 2022! But I will be buying a hard copy.

BkClubCare ❤️ Her pastry bible has some opinions; actually very fun to read. 2y
Tera66 @BkClubCare I'll have to check it out, I didn't know she had one for pastry, thanks.😊 2y
MelAnn I also have already pre-ordered the hard copy! 2y

This is a beautiful book full of magic & family in the vein of Alice Hoffman. It would be a perfect book to read on a cloudy, windy autumn day, curled up under a blanket, drinking a hot beverage of your choice. To see my full review, please visit my blog:
