What a masterpiece 📖
This nonfiction picture book describes the events that happened back on August 23, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the march on Washington and the speech that shook our nation forever. Kadir Nelson is the illustrator who takes students on a journey once reading this book.

AndreaEfres LAFS.1.RI.4.10 With prompting and support, read informational texts appropriately complex for grade 1. This prompt is great for activities in the classroom that create a sense of getting informed and knowing what happened in our history.
UDL (7.2) Optimize relevance, value, and authenticity. The students can analyze the speech and create their own for a better understanding of oral communication.

Mehso-so

This F was another book introduced to me by Dr. Spalding. It tells the story of a kind witch who accidentally feeds a baby moonlight which in turn gives her magic. While I couldn‘t entirely get into it, I definitely think this book has its place in the classroom and should be shared with upper elementary students. #ucflae3414sp1
