Remembering Martin Luther King Jr. and the women of the Civil Rights Movement today with a look back through At The Dark End of Street by Danielle L. McGuire. There's still a lot of work to do, for guidance, pick up Eloquent Rage by Brittney Cooper or When They Call You a Terrorist by Patrisse Khan-Cullors.⠀

I love memoirs that involve travel, especially when the traveler respects the culture they're visiting. This is a beautiful book about going to the ends of the earth for healing and the unexpected things that happen when we're open to anything. It begs the question, what would you do to save your life?

While it's never fun to be forced in the situation, i love stories about people finding their roots in a personal crisis. This little memoir about going broke and going back to nature was more inspirational than I had expected. Making my own cheese and yogurt is now totally on my bucket list.
