Modern Fantasy

Ferdinand the bull is like none other in the pasture. At the very moment the men came to the pasture to find the fiercest bull they happen to see Ferdinand as he was being stung by a bee. What a great story to tell children you don‘t have to be like everybody else to be happy it‘s OK to be different than what people think you are.

jhudson I just bought this book. I'm so excited for the movie. I absolutely LOVE the story of Ferdinand. I'm so happy he doesn't fit the stereotype nor does he follow the crowd. Great addition to any class library. 6y

Llama llama and his mama are out shopping. When Llama Llama gets bored he starts to have bad behavior. It seems that Mama Llama and Baby Llama both learn a lesson. Baby llama learns patience and Mama Llama learns to include him so he doesn‘t get bored while shopping. Throwing a fit doesn‘t get you your way. Sometimes explain things calmly can help others understand and have better behavior.

Kirsten.Pacheco I love the Llama Llama series because they teach children patience and that sometimes it isn‘t all about us and we have to be patient to get what we want. Great book! 6y

Biography
#UCFWalterslit
This is an inspirational book and would be a great book for Black History Month in my classroom in the future. Rosa Parks shows amazing strength and the ability to stand up for herself. In the past it hasn‘t been easy for people of color to feel equal. Rosa was one of the pivotal people that help change that.

Quackers the cat describes what it‘s like to be a duck. One day he comes across a fellow cat and realizes that he‘s a cat not a duck. He gets a chance to enjoy what a cat usually does and he realizes he misses being duck. This lucky cat continues his days in both worlds surrounded with the things he like best.

lizzie0922 @BLYTHE44 I absolutely love this book! It is so adorable and I love how the cat believes he is a duck too and fits in. It shows how sometimes you can be a little different but we‘re all still the same and fit right in together. #UCFWaltersLit 6y

Sally our main character in this story has received an exciting package with her new socks inside. She enjoys them, but they started to change shape on her in which she made the best of it and continues to use them in different ways. Sometimes life hands us things that we didn‘t expect, but we can always make the best of it if we‘re positive.

Realistic Fiction
#UCFWalterslit
This sweet book is about a little boy growing up and his mother‘s love never dwindles even as he becomes an adult. Once he becomes the father himself he falls into the same patterns of love for his own child as his mother did for him. This particular picture book was a gift from a very good friend whom showed me the love of a mother and how powerful that is. I am Grateful to her, forever.

jhudson I read this story to my son at least 3 times a week. My mom used to read it to my brother. I guess you could say it's a family tradition 🤗 6y
Racheal.Shi.Horton I love to read this book to my little boy. It's a great way to show people that there is always someone that cares about them. 6y

The main character is a young llama who is having trouble being patient waiting on his Mama llama. Since quite a few young students are scared of the dark and when it‘s time to go to bed, this story brings a little humor to what it‘s like to learn the lesson about having good patients. It‘s funny watching Baby Llama and what not to do at bed time.

It gives good insight into how to care for horses. It also talks about jobs they may be able to do as a horse or pony. This level one book is an easy read for beginning readers. The subject matter would be exciting for my daughter to push through the challenges a new reader faces.

This cute story is about a teddy bear with a small flaw, but was still able to be loved. Even though somethings could appear at first glance to be broken, they may be easily fixed with a little attention. The lesson children could learn from this sweet book is we may have flaws, but don‘t let it hold you back.

Racheal.Shi.Horton This is a great book that teaches students that they shouldn't judge people and that everyone matters. 6y

It‘s the story of the magical old elf,Santa that brings the Christmas cheer to our houses on Christmas Eve Night. My favorite part in the book is when the author describes Santa, “ His eyes how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry!" What a wonderful way to describe to children what happens for children who are nice and why not to be naughty.

Racheal.Shi.Horton I love to read this book any time of the year. But as it get close to Christmas this book becomes more popular. It is a great way to use the holiday to draw people to books. 6y
