Dress Codes for Small Towns | Courtney Stevens

Pickpick

I'm always excited by a book depicting religious, liberal teens active in youth groups since that was me. Even better is the thoughtful way Stevens shows Billie's questioning of just who she is and what she wants - particularly around her sexuality. The strong friendships were great, although not all equally shown. I'm not quite sold on the ending - maybe a little too deus ex machina for me? Very, very good overall and I definitely enjoyed it.

I was late with my book report and I'm late with my #weeklyforecast - such is the way of life! Still working on The Gilded Wolves in print although I had a couple graphic novel holds come in that may derail that plan. What If It's Us? and Interment are both audiobooks while Furyborn is my ebook read.

I'm late with my #bookreport - it wasn't my best week ever in general, but reading went ok. Finished Dress Codes for Small Towns and A Very Large Expanse of Sea. Enjoyed them both, but actually switched up my next e-read to be Furyborn instead of Here to Stay because it felt like too much realistic fiction in a row. Still working on What If It's Us and The Gilded Wolves. Just barely started Internment on audio in the car. @Cinfhen

The #weeklyforecast has some distinct similarities to last week's, but with new things on deck.
Current reads:
Car audio: A Very Large Expanse of Sea
House audio: What If It's Us
E-read: Dress Codes for Small Towns
Print: The Gilded Wolves

On deck:
Next car audio: Internment
Next E-read: Here to Stay

If I finish either of the others I will pick something to follow them when I do. Here's hoping for a little more reading time this week!

Finished this in one sitting this afternoon. Last week was a long week - both good and bad things, but exhausting when all was said and done. This was exactly the balm I needed today. At 10 volumes, Phoebe and Marigold are as delightful as ever. My favorite part was the three pages about Pokhúmon Go.

A little late with my #bookreport unless you count the fall back hour as having already happened. Finished Wildcard as expected - I liked how it wrapped up. Very cinematic story - this ideology is great to recommend to reluctant readers, especially those who love video games. Made progress on A Very Large Expanse of Sea, What If It's Us and Dress Codes for Small Towns. No progress on the other two sadly.

Spent my morning listening to this on #hoopla while working on my blog and I love it so much so far! I laughed out loud hard at the made up Hudson Panini name. I want happiness for both Arthur and Ben, but Arthur with his musicals and determination to make his office mates into friends speaks to my soul. #audiobooks

Costume contest at work yesterday! My dept went as characters from Alice in Wonderland. I had almost all the parts for my costume. My Mom (who is awesome) whipped up the pinafore Sat night with some leftover fabric and I bought the headband. We had so much fun and the library patrons loved it. With the terrible weather both of our storytimes were hopping: about 170 people at the AM and 120 at the PM! Today I'm pooped, but totally worth it.

Here's my #weeklyforecast - I won't finish all these, but I plan to work on all at least a little. Wildcard is my current car #audiobook, but since I'm almost done with it, A Very Large Expanse of Sea is up next. What If It's Us is my non-car audiobook. Dress Codes for Small Towns is my ebook. I've been working on The Gilded Wolves in print forever, but I'm determined to finish it soon. The Unicorn Whisperer is purely for fun. @Cinfhen

We were supposed to be in FL by now, but the condo we rented is on the coast in Brevard County which has announced some mandatory evacuations. Backup plan was Hilton Head, but since they may also get hit by Dorian we are heading to Boone, NC in the mountains tomorrow. On the bright side, we had time to hit the Barnes & Noble #bookhaul event this morning. Left so many pretties behind, but excited about these. Hope all on the East coast stay safe!

Listened to this one on hoopla and it was great! Second in the series so the only drawback was it had been so long since I read the first, I had to go find a plot summary. The world building is really complicated and interesting and all three sisters are sympathetic in their own way. I'm definitely starting to root for all our main characters to unite and completely overthrow the island's current ruling system! #audiobooks

Nute Is this series complete now, because I‘m holding out? I‘m in the same boat as you, if I read trilogy books at the time of individual publication, I‘ll remember very little by the time that the next book comes out. So I wait now until all the books are available. 3mo

Took me forever to read this one, but I did enjoy it. Charming banter and cool jobs for both protagonists plus a geeky fandom adds up to lots of fun. I also really appreciated that our main couple had mediocre sex at one point while they were struggling to connect emotionally. Nice to read a romance where the sex isn't spectacular every single time.

Been trying to do better about keeping my book journal up to date. Mine Till Midnight did not have my kind of hero and heroine. After 10 years working in libraries, it's finally time to admit something: summer reading at work is terrible for my personal reading life. Only one more week left at my library though and since I worked this evening, I puttered around the house this morning catching up on Hey YA. Vacation is almost over. :( On our way home from Bermuda, but we have a long layover on NY before heading back to Chicagoland. Since we are here for so long, hubby suggested we try the TWA hotel - mostly to check out their rooftop pool with a view of the runways! Excellent narration. I was emotionally invested in Freya and her sister and Harun and his family. I think it's a sign that I'm old that my biggest response to this was anger at some of the parents, especially Nathaniel's mom who abandons her child to his mentally ill father's care with very little oversight. None of the adults in Nathaniel's life see anything wrong either which is infuriating because it is so realistic. #hubchallenge19
