The Balkan Trilogy | Olivia Manning

Reading this because we recently streamed the BBC series.

The Fallen Sun | David R. Grigg
Pickpick

This is an excellent book. It‘s got interesting technology, good world building, a collection of characters that you care about, and some mysteries that keep you reading to the end. (And when you get there you want to start the next instalment straight away, except it hasn‘t been written yet. Hopefully David Grigg is not the new George Martin.)

“The fallen sun” is well worth reading, particularly if you like science-based science fiction.

Berry And Co. | Dornford Yates

Bought this as a print on demand book from Amazon. There was a lot of Yates in my parents‘ house when I was growing up, and I was always someone who would read anything. You just have to ignore the fact that he was racist, sexist and rumored to be a Nazi sympathizer. He was very funny.

Working my way through this collection, it‘s taking a while. Complete report when finished.

Picked this up from the library the other day. I have a project to read every Hugo and Nebula nominated story. The first couple of pages are engaging.

Currently reading. After 200 pages, finding it a bit of a chore, but mean to persevere.

All the Birds in the Sky | Charlie Jane Anders

Really enjoyed this. Not a lot that was original, but combined things in a refreshing way. It occurred to me that the plot was basically the same as that in “Short circuit” and “Electric dreams” - boy nerd meets arty girl, relationship cemented by AI.
