9.5/10 - I was completed transported by Butler's prose. Been in a bit of a reading slump, just reading books out of obligation and not true enjoyment. Kindred shattered that slump completely. I was completely absorbed by the Antebellum South world that Butler created for Dana; although the present wasn't described with nearly as much detail, Butler kept me hooked with her unique blend of historical fiction & science fiction. Worth a read!
A dog & an open road. Perks of shotgun.
Stepping outside of my usual faire with a psychological thriller.
"While it is in no way racist for any author to write a book exclusively about white women, it is fundamentally racist for books to be published that focus solely on the American white woman's experience in which that experience is assumed to be THE American women's experience." -bell hooks
