Reminded me of The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper

Loved the pokes at who's who and what's what. A great weave of the perceptions of children and adults and a representing of events that's makes you reconsider your own interpretations. Great plot, realistic setting that makes you appreciate the fairy tales we pattern our lives on.
