Late to the game on this book, even after many people recommended it to me when it first came out. What would I like about 8 rowers in WA in the '30s? Apparently, a lot. Brown is an excellent storyteller and makes the action swift and exciting. Full of heart and hard work, well researched and reimagined. Highly recommend it

An excellent work that looks at early childhood education - from its earlier purposes to many of the challenges educators (and pre-schoolers) face today to a brief comparison with every educators dream: Finland. It gives concrete studies, examples, and ideas for both parents, educators, and administrators for improving the learning and social-emotional wellbeing for the little kiddos.

Can't help but read up on education now that I've got a little one... Even though she only just turned one. Heh. Interesting thoughts on learning and education. Motivation to look into all learning options; traditional school might not be right for all ways of learning.

I don't often read graphic novels, but this looked adorable - and it was. My grandparents have all passed and my grandmother had dementia when she went, so this book is heartbreakingly wonderful to me. So compassionate and real.

Picked up this book because I thought it would be more about flavor and culture, and while it is not necessarily that I am pleased nonetheless. As Daughter begins to ween it's helped me think more about our assumptions and then to be more adventurous with her foods. A very interesting read.
