I liked the quirkiness of this book, but felt like it didn't have much forward momentum.

Hands down the best book I've read so far this year. It's a very thought-provoking book in some unexpected ways.
When I received an ARC of this book, I wasn't sure I would read it. The plot sounded a bit strange. But once I skimmed the first page or two, I was hooked. Katherine Arden's writing was beautiful. Her descriptions of a time and a place that are completely unfamiliar to me transported me. The plot was really unusual, but that made it fun as I had no idea where it was headed.
"I hope, too, that my book will illuminate my belief that love of art - be it poetry, storytelling, painting, sculpture, or music - enables people to transcend any barrier man has yet devised."
Really enjoyed this book, but my favorite part was the afterword.
