This was a wonderful read, I just finished it but I know it works. Because I applied some of the principles I'd read today, during my speech. It was a presidential debate like event, where 4 of my other competitors also spoke. I applied the pathos to best use, mixing humor and adding logos to the mix. Guess what! I won the debate(also the elections)!

Now take this from President of a School Parliament : read it, it's filled with knowledge.

This might be the best book/essay on confidence out there. It's not your casual self-help "you can be anything" book. This book explores the facets of confidence that the self-help community often overlook.

"Confidence isn't the belief that we won't meet obstacles: it is the recognition that difficulties are an inescapable part of all worthwhile contributions."

I'll recommend this book to everyone, of all ages.

This book emphasizes on mainly three things, and a few niches here and there. Though it does get repetitive towards the end by regurgitating the same three things dressed up in different attires.

My rationale for picking this up was that I'm a student and with tests of all sorts, speeches to prepare at the 11th hour etc developing my memory would be a saviour for me.

Good practical advice as well, only gets a bit repetitive near the end.

Had a lot of information for me. I found out why I would overthink any bit of attention(positive or negative) I got from the other gender -- because I have an Anxious Attachment Style.

I think that this book is a must read for anyone who wants to have a relationship or is already in one.

Understanding the Styles is easy, but making things work are difficult, that's why they have sections on how to make things work as well(thank God for that!).

I have an anxious attachment style, with half of secure attachment and a tiny bit of avoidant attachment. Great going till now, only half the book remains.

Honestly speaking, for a teenager the books I've been reading are a bit too much, but at the same time extremely helpful for what's about to come in life.

Does anyone have any tips for me, as I'm heading towards my first proper relationship?

Reggie If I could give my younger self any advice it would be to work on being your best self. Go to the gym, stay away from sugar, learn alot about alot but not to dominate a conversation but to be able to contribute and be interesting. Finish your university degree. Have you ever heard of Dan Savage. He is a gay sex columnist but he gives a lot of relationship advice that is universal. He has a book. I‘d say read it. 2y
Infinite_Adnan @Reggie Thank you kind sir for your advice; I'll surely look into his book soon. 2y

I'd read it last year, now decided to re-read it. My opinion remains the same: It's a good book, worth your time.

Furthermore, instead of rushing towards the habit making section, spend some time fully grasping the first 3 chapters. They contain key insights (which I'd missed the first time I read it).

I always thought I was a bad person, but I'm actually a Nice Guy... Oh sh*t! That just means I'm actually a terrible person, but am masquerading as a good person.

Honestly, I fit the description of Nice Guys so well that I felt like I was being described personally, but the book also provides a solution to recover(thank God for that).

And yep, you should read it... NOW!

So as I'm growing into adulthood, being single is now becoming a pain, given that I've only 1 friend and no one else to talk to.

So I've decided to try my hand at relationships(I like a girl, who likes me too, now I just need to ask her out).

But as a bookworm, my go-to place to learn is books, here was first of them. Waiting to read many more.

I guess it'll be quintessential and really helpfull. I hope it's helpful to someone extent atleast..

7.5/10

Like every other book I've read, this was easy to read and incredibly informative.

The author, Jim Kwik, talks about a bunch of stuff, primarily associated with learning. He goes into depth about speed reading, memorizing, concentration, thinking, motivation, mindset etc.

Recommend to everyone, but mostly people who are into learning, including (you guessed it!) students.

This book was easy to read and quite short in length, but honestly speaking, wasn't as beneficial as I thought it'd be. A lot of what was suggested I had already known. Due to that prior knowledge, it was dull and uninteresting.

Yet I think it may be helpful to some people out there. Not the best I've read, but I've read worst, so it's a So-So.

A wonderful and easy read. It's a simple guide for maintaining good mental health with different sections and different chapters on topics like relationships, anxiety, stress, the importance of self-compassion, gratitude and mindfulness. I really wish I'd read it in 2019, would've saved me a lot of time and tears.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially if you feel concerned about mental health.

One of my absolute favourite quotes, by Seneca.
"It is not that we have a short time to live, it is that we waste a lot of it... People are frugal in guarding their personal property, but as soon as it comes to squandering time they are most wasteful of the one thing in which it is right to be stingy."

"Real toughness is experiencing discomfort or distress; leaning in, paying attention and creating space to take thoughtful action. It's navigating discomfort to make the best decision you can."
When I read this in the first chapter of the book, I knew I was gonna like this one.

For some reason, when Julia said that it stuck with me. It was a farrago of ambiguous opposing emotions running through my head. And today even after a month of reading the book, that moment and those words are vividly present in my memory.
