TED Talks: The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking | Chris Anderson
10 posts | 9 read | 2 reading | 18 to read
A New York Times Bestseller For anyone who has ever been inspired by a TED talk ...this is an insiders guide to creating talks that are unforgettable. Since taking over TED in the early 2000s, Chris Anderson has shown how carefully crafted short talks can be the key to unlocking empathy, stirring excitement, spreading knowledge, and promoting a shared dream. Done right, a talk can electrify a room and transform an audiences worldview. Done right, a talk is more powerful than anything in written form. This book explains how the miracle of powerful public speaking is achieved, and equips you to give it your best shot. There is no set formula; no two talks should be the same. The goal is for you to give the talk that only you can give. But dont be intimidated. You may find it more natural than you think. Chris Anderson has worked behind the scenes with all the TED speakers who have inspired us the most, and here he shares insights from such favorites as Sir Ken Robinson, Amy Cuddy, Bill Gates, Elizabeth Gilbert, Salman Khan, Dan Gilbert, Mary Roach, Matt Ridley, and dozens more everything from how to craft your talks content to how you can be most effective on stage. This is the 21st-centurys new manual for truly effective communication and it is a must-read for anyone who is ready to create impact with their ideas.

I saw this on Facebook a while ago and gave the first answer 😎 but I could do one or the other.

Ten-minute TED talk
About hot men of Middle
Earth … or tartan noir

I could possibly also do one about TNR but I might get too emotional.

#haikuaday #haikuhive

CBee I have no idea what I‘d talk about, but I‘m all in for a hot men of Middle Earth TED talk 👏🏻 2w
Jari-chan I think I would start talking about books in general or maybe about Warhammer 40K. Then I would totally get lost and forget what I was talking about and maybe ending up talking angrily about something queerfeminist, then getting angry at the world as it is and then getting removed from the scene 😅 2w

dabbe @CBee @Susanita If it includes Aragorn, I'll happily listen and drool! 🤤 2w
dabbe What a fun haiku! 🖤🐝🩶 Being the English teacher nerd that I am, I'd probably start rambling about grammar and why it matters, making all kinds of grammatical mistakes as I spoke! 😂 2w
AnnCrystal Middle Earth men or Tartan Noir...Sign me up for either of those speeches!

After freaking out...I'd likely focus on the arts. Share the three main responsibilities of being an artist/storyteller, the power of color, the impact of inspiration through notable history...of course, that's if I can find my voice 😂.

👏🏼🐝👍🏼🎤🐝💝.

JenlovesJT47 I could definitely give a Ted Talk about Old Hollywood. Or cats and why they are the best!! 😻😻😻 cool haiku 😎 2w
JenlovesJT47 I‘m also down for anything involving hot men, especially in kilts! 😏 2w
Susanita @dabbe @AnnCrystal @CBee @JenlovesJT47 How about hot men of Middle Earth…in kilts? 2w
AnnCrystal @Susanita

JenlovesJT47 Hot men of first, middle, and last earth!! (Or whatever the proper terminology is) 😅😅😅 bring it on! 2w
JenlovesJT47 P.S. And kilts are a must! 2w
CBee @dabbe yes please ♥️ 2w
CBee @Susanita yes please 😂😂 2w
ShelleyBooksie Men of middle earth in kilts - yes please! 2w
lil1inblue 😂😂😂Tartan noir. Totally on board with hot men of middle earth in kilts. 😍 My impromptu ted talk would have to be on the Golden Girls. A long ways from kilts in middle earth. 😅 2w

This book gave me my superpowers! Since I know myself I have the whole world to share but I am not perfect in doing this. One of the biggest fears was the fear of public speaking.

This book taught me how to deliver ideas, how to keep the attention and turn speech to a fascinating adventure. It changed me.

This march was my first public speaking talk and thanks to this book it was best I've ever mastered yet. I have no fear anymore!

You see that little quote on my tea bag? That is about the only reading I did today. Yet, although it was a normal Sunday, I had such a pleasant and uplifting day!

It started with the impromptu decision to stick around for the restorative yoga that I usually do on Sunday‘s (I went to Flow first). I left so relaxed and at peace. Healthy breakfast, lunch & dinner, some Ted Talks and quality family time ended the day.

And now...book time.❣️❣️❣️

This was fairly TED specific and less about general public speaking than I would have liked but still had some good tips and insights.

BeththeBookDragon Love Ted talks! 9y
EchoLogical @bethfriedman906 I do, too! As a painfully awkward public speaker, I'm always in awe of how articulate the speakers are. LOL 9y
